01What if a site offers Lyrica without an order?
FDA warning letters name sites that offer prescription drugs without a prescription, without adequate directions, or without the required risk language. A cart that never asks who wrote the capsule fails BeSafeRx on the first check.
BeSafeRx also wants a US address, a US phone, a pharmacist you can reach, and a state board license you can look up. FDA tells people not to buy from sites that sit outside the United States. How you get pregabalin is those two steps. A listing in FDA's pharmacy locator still needs the other three BeSafeRx checks.
02Does 75 mg make an over-the-counter exception?
No. 75 mg is one capsule strength on the US list, next to 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 225, and 300 mg. A smaller capsule is still pregabalin. It is still Schedule V. It still needs the written line.
Several labelled starts use 75 mg twice a day as the first 150 mg daily total. That is a dosing piece, not a reason to sell the capsule without a clinician. Half of a larger capsule is not an OTC workaround the label writes. Creatinine clearance still has to be checked before the first total. A smaller capsule does not skip that kidney map.
03How do you move from a search to a real fill?
Bring the reason for the capsule and a current medicine list to a licensed clinician. Kidney numbers belong in that visit. If the clinician writes pregabalin, a US pharmacy can fill the strength on the line. Same-day stock depends on that pharmacy.
If the only offer you can find skips the written order, stop. That is not how Lyrica is sold in the United States. Generic bottles after July 19, 2019 did not change the OTC answer. Initial US approval of the brand was 2004. That year also did not put the capsule on an open shelf. BeSafeRx still wants a pharmacist you can reach before any online fill.
04Why is Lyrica kept off the open shelf?
The US label is a prescription product. The same file also marks pregabalin as Schedule V. Those two facts keep the bottle behind a pharmacist, not beside ibuprofen. Dizziness, somnolence, swelling, and weight gain are listed effects. The Medication Guide also tells people not to stop suddenly.
A clinician has to choose the daily total and split it into two or three swallows. Kidney function can cut that total. That work does not happen at a convenience register. Known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or a capsule component is a contraindication. Starts sit on the pregabalin shelf.
05Can a US convenience store sell pregabalin?
No. A store without a pharmacy license cannot hand over a Schedule V capsule. A pharmacy counter can fill an order that already exists. That is a fill, not an aisle pick. Asking the clerk for 'something like Lyrica' does not create an order.
If a travel kit or a market stall offers capsules in a bag, that is not a US pharmacy fill. The name on the blister does not replace the clinician. Schedule V refill rules still need an order already on file. An empty bottle from last month does not open a counter sale.
06Is the oral solution sold over the counter?
No. The 20 mg/mL oral solution is the same prescription product. Orders are written in milligrams. The pharmacist converts that into milliliters. A liquid does not become an aisle bottle because it is easier to swallow.
People who cannot take a capsule still need the clinician and the pharmacy. The solution carries the same Schedule V class and the same alcohol warning. Orders are written in milligrams. 150 mg is 7.5 mL. That math does not move the bottle to a cough-syrup aisle. Store the solution at 59 F to 86 F (15 C to 30 C) in the original package.
